This Week in Diving – 24/1/11

Bubbles from the past

This week, we have another dive report from Skipper Craig at RAD. Look out for it tomorrow as he entertains us with tales from Brambles Reef.

Something to wet your appetite

Look like it will be a windy week with winds forecasted to pick up from Thursday and stay in the 20-35 knot region all weekend. This will be accompanied by clouds, but hopefully not rain. Australia Day however would be a fantastic day to get out with sunshine and 10 knot winds forecasted.

If you’d like to brave the winds and get out, Splash Watersports have a Summer Special running. All equipment hire is half price if booked over the phone or in store. They still have spots available for trips running on Fri 28th, Sat 29th and Sun 30th Jan, so give them a call on 4740 4622 or stop in to the shop to book a trip out to the reef.

Land lubbers

A happy birthday to Dianne at Adrenalin Dive who just turned 10 last week ;)

It’s not wet but we’ll tell you anyway

Okay, we lie, maybe this one is a little wet. A key facet of Townsville’s history will be honoured this March (23rd – 26th) when a commemorative event is held to mark the 100 year anniversary of the sinking of the S.S. Yongala. Included in the line up of events are a memorial service, an evening lecture, a tribute dinner/charity auction, public talks and school programs. For more information on this event, contact Sandra DeMatos (sandradematos@bigpond.com) or Dolan Hayes (dolan@empowerpr.com.au).

If anyone has contributions please e-mail them through to admin@divingtownsville.com by Monday afternoon and they will make the Monday evening edition of TWID.
